Food was running low. There were still plenty of water jugs left at the little corner store, but most of the food that hadn’t expired was not enough to live on alone. Granola bars and potato ships could only go so far. Sara had been through the other houses and found several canned goods along with dead inhabitants. She sat in the cool basement staring at the cans and faced a thought that had been troubling her for some time now. Her current way of living wasn’t going to last. Someday all of this food would be inedible. She realized she needed to start learning how to survive without flashlights, cars, and canned food. All that she had now was going to decay.
It was an intimidating thought. Sara had lived relatively well on her journey across the country and she knew it. She absentmindedly chewed her thumbnail and working things over in her head. I need to learn how to survive in the wild. How to hunt with and without a gun. Her mind drifted to the pist
